Description
Fertile mulch is a unique mulch as it is based from wood shavings that contain horse manure which is completely natural. This makes our fertile mulch great for mulching and weed suppression. It has a very good nutrient content that is slowly released into your garden soil. It is also peat free; helping to save the environment!
Our Fertile mulch does an excellent job of covering flower beds to help maintain the moisture content in the soil and suppress the growth of weeds, making your flower bed weed-free! Unlike straw, wood shavings take longer to biodegrade, this gives the soil a much more friable consistency compared to our Soil Conditioner, making it ideal for mulching and in turn great for your garden!
How to use Fertile Mulch
Using our Fertile Mulch in your gardens is straightforward and hassle free. Firstly, drop small amounts of mulch with a tool of your choice between a bunch of plants. You would then spread it out around and under them, covering all of the flower bed. You can use a shovel/hand gloves/a rake to do this. You should avoid creating heaps against the trunks of the plants.
When should I mulch?
Our Fertile Mulch can be used all year round but ideally, it is best to use it if your soil is exposed and drying out. Experienced gardeners often administer mulch in the spring and some in late autumn.
